Leipzig Centre of Materials Science
The intelligent and efficient use of existing and new materials is the basis of our social prosperity and for almost all modern technical devices.
The new competence centre founded in June 2021 aims to permanently strengthen expertise in materials research at HTWK Leipzig and initiate interdisciplinary research projects in the field of materials research. To this end, the participating professors are jointly organising the cooperative use of the existing equipment infrastructure and initiating the procurement of new large-scale equipment for research. The aim is to establish materials research as a key focus at HTWK Leipzig over the next few years.
Im Kompetenzzentrum für Werkstoffforschung an der HTWK Leipzig analysieren Forschende Werkstoffe wie Carbonbeton, Faserverbundwerkstoffe oder metallische Legierungen. Dank einer DFG-Förderung konnte das vorhandene Gerätespektrum an der HTWK Leipzig durch ein Rasterelektronenmikroskop und einen Computertomograph ergänzt werden. Mit den neuen Geräten kann die Analyse von Werkstoffen verbessert werden.
